If you do not own, nor have experienced this record, you should. “Twenty years after its original release, and a week before Primal Scream embark on their seven date Screamadelica tour, the extremely Limited Edition Collector’s Box Set will be hitting the shelves.” This thing is almost ridiculous in size: 4 remastered CDs including live bonus show and all the E.P.’s and remixes associated with this record, heavyweight vinyl issues, slipmats for the vinyl, a DVD, a 50 page book, and art cards – all in a 12inch can. Huge. Coming March 7th.
The reason why we have been a bit slow on the blog recently is because we attended another storming night in the old bank vault in Cardiff on Boxing day. With Berlins Panorama Bar resident , Prosumer, on the decks it was a night to remember (or not in our case).
The iPad’s 9.7 inch display offers one of the more unique user interfaces around for app designers. German software developers Algoriddim have taken full advantage of that functionality turning your iPad screen into a virtual turntable set. Complete with two decks, crossfader, individual channel mixers, volume controls, pitch blend sliders, and automix capability the Djay app from Algoriddim smoothly transitions the vinyl scratching sound of turntables into the virtual realm. A steal at £11.99.

With a clear nod to the iconic ghetto-blasters of the 80′s TDK is bringing the classic back with their new line of sleek boomboxes updated for today’s technology.
Currently there are two models, the 3 Speaker Boombox and the 2 Speaker Boombox. Apart from size, the primary difference is that the 3 Speaker model has a dedicated subwoofer in the center, which produces a fantastic vibration sure to get booties shaking. The 2 Speaker boombox features the same pair of 6-inch direct drive units from its big brother that solidify the classic look while offering crystal-clear sound, but adds a leather shoulder strap to the fixed, solid handle. Both stereos strike a balance between old and new with glossy finishes, touch screen control panels and the classic retro rectangular shape.
“From the Platform” is the latest publication to offer a nostalgic review of graffiti in New York. Put together by graffiti writer Paul Cavalieri (who was able to take a wide array of photographs after having learnt much of the Subway timetable), the book stands out from the crown because it concentrates solely on Subway art, created between the mid to late 80’s. Hailed as a golden era of street art, the compilation actually draws from subway graffiti from 1983-1989 when the MTA announced that its fleet was entirely graffiti-free. The book boasts from than 325 color photos across 177 pages and is now available to pre-order from Amazon, with a full release expected in February 2011.
